Insomniac Games Remains Tight-Lipped on Marvel's Wolverine Release Date
Insomniac Games recently shared its future plans, but remained silent on updates regarding the highly anticipated Marvel's Wolverine. While the studio confirmed a busy future with "ambitious roadmap" and new projects, Co-Head Chad Dezern stated in a Variety interview that they are not yet ready to reveal information about upcoming releases, including a potential 2025 release for Wolverine. The team emphasized their commitment to existing projects while maintaining secrecy about Wolverine's development. "We have pent-up excitement, but we've got to hold on to it," Dezern stated.
Wolverine's Development History and Connections
Initially announced during the 2021 PlayStation Showcase with a cinematic trailer, Marvel's Wolverine is slated for PlayStation 5. In a 2023 interview with Kinda Funny, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Creative Director Bryan Intihar confirmed Wolverine's shared universe with Spider-Man, stating both exist within the same continuity ("they’re all in 1048"). While fans anticipated crossovers, the only confirmed connection so far is a Wolverine-themed suit in Spider-Man 2, titled "The Best There Is." A ransomware attack in December 2023 briefly exposed some Wolverine development assets to the public.
Insomniac's Current Projects and Future Plans
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is launching on PC on January 30, 2025, as announced at New York Comic-Con 2025. Insomniac clarified that no further DLC is planned for the game, but the PC version will include all post-release updates, including new suits and New Game+. Both Standard and Digital Deluxe editions will be available.
