Word on the street is that Bethesda and MachineGames' Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will grace the PlayStation 5 in the first half of 2025. This follows its anticipated launch on Xbox Series X/S and PC later this year.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle: A PS5 Release in 2025?
Industry Insiders Hint at PS5 Arrival
Recent reports strongly suggest a PS5 release for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle in early 2025. Nate the Hate, a reputable industry insider with a history of accurate predictions regarding Microsoft's multi-platform strategies, claims the game will be a timed Xbox console exclusive for the 2024 holiday season, with a PS5 launch slated for the first half of 2025. Insider Gaming corroborates this, stating that several media outlets have received this information under NDA.
“MachineGames' Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will release on Xbox & PC this holiday (Dec) as a timed console exclusive. After this timed-exclusive window, Indiana Jones & the Great Circle is planned to come to PlayStation 5 in the first half of 2025,” Nate the Hate tweeted.
Microsoft's Shifting Exclusivity Strategy
Speculation about Microsoft's approach to exclusivity has been swirling. Earlier reports from The Verge indicated that Bethesda and Microsoft were considering broader releases for major Xbox titles, including Indiana Jones and Starfield, on other platforms. While initially securing exclusivity after the Bethesda acquisition, Microsoft has demonstrated a willingness to release select flagship titles on competing consoles like the PlayStation.
This aligns with Microsoft's "Xbox Everywhere" initiative, which has already brought titles like Sea of Thieves, Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, and Grounded to rival platforms. Reports suggest there's no absolute barrier to future first-party Xbox games launching on PlayStation.
More details on Indiana Jones and the Great Circle are expected during Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 20th. Hosted by Geoff Keighley, the event promises a closer look at the game and potentially an official release date, alongside other highly anticipated titles like COD: Black Ops 6, MH Wilds, Civ 7, Marvel Rivals, and Dune: Awakening.
