Dogs Stay Safe in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
“Indy Loves Dogs,” Says MachineGames’ Creative Director

Recent video games have sometimes included violence against animals, from Nazi dogs in Wolfenstein to aggressive wolves in Resident Evil 4. However, MachineGames is taking a different approach with Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, ensuring no harm comes to canine companions.
“Indiana Jones is a dog person,” Jens Andersson, MachineGames’ Creative Director, told IGN. Despite the high-stakes action of Indy’s adventures, the team designed encounters where dogs are present but never harmed, unlike their earlier titles like Wolfenstein, where animal combat was permitted.
“This IP has a family-friendly core,” Andersson explained. “We embrace that by ensuring dogs are treated with care. They might be enemies, but you’ll only scare them off, not hurt them.”

Set for release on December 9 on Xbox Series X|S and PC, with a planned PS5 launch in Spring 2025, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle takes place in 1937, between Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade. The story follows Indy as he chases stolen artifacts from Marshall College, journeying from the Vatican to Egypt’s pyramids and the sunken temples of Sukhothai.
Indy’s whip doubles as a tool for navigation and combat, allowing him to disarm foes and navigate expansive, open-world-inspired maps. Dog lovers can rest easy knowing no canine will face Indy’s whip in this adventure, per the developers’ commitment.
