In Avowed, upgrading your weapons is crucial for survival. Early game encounters feature Common (Level I) weapons and enemies, but the difficulty quickly escalates to Level II, demanding Fine (Tier II) gear. Here's how to acquire and upgrade to this superior equipment.
Upgrading Weapons and Armor from Common (I) to Fine (II)
While some Fine Quality weapons and armor can be found or purchased, others require upgrading. Avowed uses a dual system to track gear effectiveness: Quality (indicated by descriptor, color, and Roman numeral) and upgrade levels (+1 to +3). Common (Green, I) gear can be upgraded to Fine (Blue, II).
To upgrade, visit a Party Camp workbench. Each upgrade level (+1 to +3) requires specific materials depending on the gear type. Reaching +3 allows upgrading to Fine (II), requiring Adra—a rare crystal obtained through quests, merchants, or dismantling Unique gear.
Finding and Purchasing Fine (II) Weapons and Armor

While upgrading is effective, it's resource-intensive. Fine (II) gear can be found early in Dawnshore, though rarely, dropping from Level II enemies, especially Bounties. However, Common gear is significantly less effective against Level II enemies, so carry ample health potions.
Fine weapons and armor are also sold by merchants in Paradis, accessible after defeating the Dreamscourge bear boss in Dawnshore. Two sisters operate adjacent stalls near the Paradis Bounty Board: Merlylin sells magical items (grimoires, wands), and her blacksmith sister sells standard weapons and armor (pictured above).
