Hearthstone's upcoming Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set, launching January 21st, boasts a record-breaking 49 new cards. This expansion, a crossover with Blizzard's StarCraft universe, significantly expands upon the typical Mini-Set size.
The Mini-Set introduces class-specific and multi-class cards representing the three StarCraft factions: Zerg, Protoss, and Terran. Zerg cards, for example, are designed for Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Hunter, and Warlock classes, focusing on summoning large numbers of Zerglings and utilizing Hydralisks for swarm-based damage. Protoss cards, available to Druid, Mage, Priest, and Rogue, emphasize mana manipulation to deploy powerful cards like the Carrier. Terran cards provide Paladin, Shaman, and Warrior classes with enhanced Starship mechanics, introducing new Starship Pieces and strategies. A single neutral Legendary card, Grunty, completes the set.
The increased card count comes with a higher price point. A full collection costs $20 (or 2500 gold), while the all-Golden version is priced at $80 (or 12,000 gold). However, individual faction packs (Protoss, Terran, or Zerg) are available for $10 (or 1200 gold).
To celebrate the release, Hearthstone is hosting two streamed events:
- StarCast (January 23rd, 10 AM PST): Featuring StarCraft legends TrumpSC and Day9 showcasing the new cards.
- HearthCraft (January 24th, 9 AM PST): Showcasing Hearthstone community creators competing in faction-based matches and mini-games.
Watching these Twitch streams earns viewers two standard and two Golden Great Dark Beyond packs.
