Netflix has dropped the highly anticipated trailer for Happy Gilmore 2, set to premiere on July 25th, 2025. The trailer reunites us with Adam Sandler as the iconic Happy Gilmore, nearly 30 years after the original film's 1996 release. Returning alongside Sandler are familiar faces: Julie Bowen, Ben Stiller, and Christopher McDonald, reprising his role as the villainous Shooter McGavin.

Here's a recap of the original Happy Gilmore, courtesy of Netflix, for those needing a refresher:
The original Happy Gilmore concluded with Sandler's character finally finding peace after a grueling golf season (and a memorable brawl with Bob Barker). His mission? To raise money to pay off his grandmother's back taxes. This led the former hockey player to become the most unconventional golfer the Tour Championship had ever seen. Along the way, Happy formed alliances (with the late Carl Weathers' Chubbs Petersen and Allen Covert's homeless caddy) and clashed with enemies (Christopher McDonald's Shooter McGavin and Bob Barker). Ultimately, he triumphed against the odds, saved his grandmother's house, and returned home a victor.
How the sequel will revive Gilmore's golf career remains to be seen, but one thing's certain: Happy Gilmore is a legend, even among the world's best golfers.
News of Happy Gilmore 2 first broke in March 2024, with Netflix officially ordering the sequel in May. The film is directed by Kyle Newacheck, from a script penned by Sandler and Tim Herlihy.
