Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii's New Game Plus Mode to be Free Post-Launch

Following fan backlash over the exclusive New Game Plus mode in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio (RGG Studio) has announced a different approach for its upcoming title, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. The New Game Plus mode for Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii will be a free addition via a post-launch patch.

Infinite Wealth, while critically acclaimed and nominated for several Game Awards, faced criticism for restricting New Game Plus access to its priciest editions. RGG Studio, however, has learned from this controversy. Their recent Like a Dragon Direct showcased gameplay features, including naval combat and crew management, and concluded with the announcement of the game's editions – confirming the free New Game Plus addition. While a specific release date for the patch wasn't provided, the timing should align well with many players' completion of their initial playthroughs, given the length of typical Like a Dragon games.

This decision contrasts with the common practice of including cosmetic items in deluxe editions. By making a significant gameplay element like New Game Plus freely available, RGG Studio demonstrates responsiveness to player feedback. Although a post-launch release may disappoint some, the free accessibility ultimately addresses the concerns raised by Infinite Wealth's pricing model.

With the game's release date set for February 21st, RGG Studio is expected to unveil further details in the coming weeks. Fans are encouraged to follow the studio's social media channels for updates.
