Nintendo's futuristic racing franchise, F-Zero, first debuted in Japan over 30 years ago. Known for pushing the boundaries of console technology, these titles delivered some of the fastest racing action ever seen on retro consoles like the SNES. The series' influence is undeniable, inspiring other racing giants like SEGA's Daytona USA.

Like its popular cousin Mario Kart, F-Zero features intense competition, track obstacles, and thrilling battles between racers and their unique "F-Zero machines." The series' iconic protagonist, Captain Falcon, even made his mark as a fighter in Super Smash Bros.

F-Zero: GP Legend, initially released in Japan in 2003 and later worldwide in 2004, joins F-Zero Climax, a title previously exclusive to Japan since its 2004 launch. F-Zero Climax remained a regional exclusive for nearly two decades, marking the last entry in the series until the release of F-Zero 99 on the Switch last year. According to F-Zero designer Takaya Imamura, the immense popularity of Mario Kart played a significant role in the series' long hiatus.
