Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 development well underway - game director

Hamaguchi, the game director, recently shared an update on the highly anticipated sequel, urging fans to exercise patience as new details will be revealed at a later date. The team is diligently working on the project.

Hamaguchi highlighted the success of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth in 2024, noting its numerous accolades and global player engagement. This success fuels the team's ambition to broaden the FFVII fanbase with the unique challenges promised in the third game of the trilogy.

Interestingly, Hamaguchi also mentioned Grand Theft Auto VI as a noteworthy game of the year. He expressed his support for the Rockstar Games team, acknowledging the immense pressure they face following GTA V's phenomenal success.

Specific details regarding the third game remain under wraps. However, Hamaguchi offered reassurance, stating that development is progressing smoothly. Given the recent release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth less than a year ago, this progress is particularly encouraging. He emphasized that players can expect a truly unique experience.

Despite this positive outlook, the May 2024 launch of Final Fantasy XVI fell short of initial sales projections, with the exact figures remaining undisclosed. Similarly, sales of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth also underperformed expectations, though Square Enix clarified that they don't view the results as a complete failure. The company remains confident that Final Fantasy XVI can still meet its targets within the allocated 18-month timeframe.
