Open Drive, a revolutionary racing game tailored for mobile devices, is now available in early access on Android. Developed by the charity organization SpecialEffect in collaboration with Sun & Moon Studios, Open Drive is not just another game—it's a testament to inclusivity and accessibility in gaming.
What’s the Game About?
Open Drive is designed to be adaptable, allowing players to choose their preferred method of control, whether it be touch, keyboard and mouse, switch access, or a controller. This inclusive approach ensures that everyone can enjoy the game, regardless of their physical abilities.
One of the game's most groundbreaking features is its mobile-specific eye control, which allows players using eye gaze technology to steer their vehicle simply by looking left or right. This feature is a game-changer for physically disabled players, offering them the chance to experience an open-world driving game like never before. The eye control functionality spans across all four of Open Drive's diverse worlds: Stunt, Speed, Snow, and Meadow.
Gameplay in Open Drive is highly flexible, catering to both casual and competitive players. You can leisurely drive around collecting orbs or chase high scores by performing daring jumps with vehicles like the Roadster, Trickster, or Speedster. The game also allows you to adjust the speed to your preference, ensuring a personalized gaming experience. Check out the early access announcement trailers below to see Open Drive in action.
Open Drive Is Now Out in Early Access
Open Drive intelligently auto-detects the control method you're using and adjusts the gameplay accordingly. Switch Access on Android is fully supported, ensuring a seamless experience for all players. Each input method has its own tailored setup: touch controls offer 'Precise' and 'Classic' modes for steering, while Switch Access, mouse, keyboard, and Android-compatible gamepads/controllers have their specific configurations.
Currently, Open Drive is available in early access on the Google Play Store for Android. Although the eye control feature is not yet fully implemented, it is expected to be available with the full version release later this summer. If Open Drive piques your interest, you can dive in now and experience its innovative approach to gaming accessibility.
