Nintendo enthusiasts have a new destination to explore as the company opens its second official store in the United States today, May 15, located in San Francisco's Union Square at 331 Powell Street. Following the success of the iconic New York location, which was once known as the Nintendo World Store and underwent renovations and rebranding to become Nintendo NY in 2016, the new San Francisco store marks Nintendo's first venture on the West Coast.
IGN had the opportunity to visit the San Francisco store and delve into what Nintendo has in store for its fans. Additionally, IGN sat down with Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser to discuss the strategic decision behind opening a store on the West Coast at this time.
During the interview, the conversation naturally turned to the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2, set to launch on June 5. IGN took the chance to ask Bowser about the availability of the Switch 2 in the U.S. at launch and beyond, the much-discussed Game-Key Cards, and other related topics.
