‘Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince’ Is Coming to iOS, Android, and Steam on September 11th With All DLC Included From the Switch Release

TouchArcade Rating: Last year's Switch release of Square Enix's monster-collecting RPG, Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince, was a delightful experience despite some technical hiccups. Its charm and engaging gameplay easily surpassed other Dragon Quest spin-offs on the platform, rivaling the exceptional Dragon Quest Builders 2. While a PC port was anticipated shortly after the Switch launch, similar to Dragon Quest Treasures, a mobile release seemed far off. Surprisingly, Square Enix announced today that the previously Switch-exclusive Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince ($23.99) will arrive on iOS, Android, and Steam on September 11th, complete with all previously released DLC, including the Digital Deluxe Edition content. See the trailer below:

Comparison images showcasing the game's visuals on mobile, Switch, and Steam are available on the official Japanese website. Here's an example:

Store listings confirm that the real-time online battle mode from the Switch version will be absent in the Steam and mobile releases.

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince is currently available on Nintendo Switch, priced at $59.99 (standard) and $84.99 (Digital Deluxe Edition). Having thoroughly enjoyed the Switch version, I'm eager to revisit it on iPhone, iPad, and Steam Deck upon its September 11th launch. This mobile port is a welcome surprise, especially considering the typical time lag between console and mobile releases in the Dragon Quest series (as seen with Dragon Quest Builders). The mobile price is set at $29.99, while the Steam version will cost $39.99. Pre-register on the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android).

Have you played Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince on Switch? Will you be giving the mobile or Steam versions a try?
