The Yellow Orb in Dragon Quest 3 Remake is notoriously tricky to obtain. While the process itself isn't overly complex, finding the starting point can be a challenge. This guide provides a clear path to acquiring this crucial orb.

The Yellow Orb is located in a town initially marked only as "???" on the map. This town's name is determined by the merchant you establish there. To obtain the orb, you must first establish and grow this settlement.

Locating Merchantburg (???)

After obtaining the ship from the King of Portoga (following the Black Pepper quest), Merchantburg's location is revealed. If you have quest markers enabled, you'll find it in the northeast corner of the world map, accessible by sailing west from the eastern continent's coast.

Optimal Timing for Merchantburg

While orb acquisition order is flexible, establishing Merchantburg early is recommended due to the time required for its growth. This allows you to collect other orbs concurrently while waiting for Merchantburg to develop.

Establishing Merchantburg and the Merchant's Role

Before heading to Merchantburg, hire a new merchant from PALS in Aliahan. Prioritize reaching the town quickly to minimize combat with your expanded party.

Upon arrival, enter the sole building and speak to the old man. He requires a merchant to establish the town; this is where you assign your newly hired merchant. The town's name will then be revealed, and your merchant will leave your party to start their business.

Merchantburg's Growth and Subsequent Visits

After establishing Merchantburg, proceed with acquiring the Purple Orb (Orochi's Lair) and the Blue Orb (Gaia's Navel). You'll receive notifications prompting you to return to Merchantburg as it grows through five stages. Each visit reveals a slightly larger town, culminating in the construction of a large club. On your fourth visit, notice your merchant's growing unpopularity among the townsfolk.

Obtaining the Yellow Orb

On your fifth and final visit (at night), you'll find the merchant missing. The townspeople have revolted, imprisoning the merchant in the house south of his former residence.

Speak with the imprisoned merchant; they'll reveal the Yellow Orb's location. Return to the merchant's house; a quest marker will appear behind the sofa. Interact with the ground behind the sofa to uncover the Yellow Orb.

The Yellow Orb is typically among the last orbs acquired. Remember the locations of the other orbs: Red Orb (Pirates' Den), Green Orb (Theddon), and Silver Orb (Maw of the Necrogond/Necrogond Shrine).
