BioWare Drops Surprise Free Weapon DLC for Dragon Age: Veilguard

Authore: BrooklynUpdate:Aug 08,2025

BioWare has largely shifted focus from Dragon Age: The Veilguard, yet a small team has quietly released a free DLC weapons pack for the game.

Fans of Dragon Age were stunned when the game’s Steam page was updated yesterday to include a free add-on, the Rook’s Weapons Appearance Offer. While modest, this addition is a welcome surprise, especially since EA had indicated minimal future support for Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Following the fifth patch in January, which focused on fixing critical bugs, new content seemed unlikely—making this release feel like a small miracle.

Curiously, the Rook’s Weapons Appearances bundle is exclusive to current owners of the game and those who buy it on PC before April 8, 2025. No details describe the bundle’s contents, but players have discovered it unlocks Watchful skins accessible in Rook’s in-game room. It remains uncertain if this offer will extend to PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X | S versions.

“These skins might not be breathtaking,” one Steam review notes, “but they bring a creepy, eldritch horror vibe!”

“It’s just cosmetic DLC, but free content for a game that’s basically done getting updates? I’m okay with that,” a Redditor commented.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard earned strong critical praise upon its October launch but, per EA, struggled to connect with a wide audience. In late January, key team members announced their departure from BioWare, with many staff either laid off or reassigned. EA told IGN the studio is now fully focused on the next Mass Effect.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard joined the PlayStation Plus March 2025 lineup, just four months after release. No further plans for its future have been revealed.
