A Decade in the Making
The development of Dragon Age: The Veilguard has spanned nearly a decade, facing numerous delays. Initially conceived in 2015 after Dragon Age: Inquisition, the project (then codenamed "Joplin") was sidelined due to BioWare's focus on Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem. Further delays stemmed from a design shift away from the initial live-service game concept.
Revived in 2018 under the codename "Morrison," the game was formally announced as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf in 2022 before settling on its current title.
Despite the challenges, the journey is nearing its end. Dragon Age: The Veilguard is set to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S this fall. Prepare for your return to Thedas!
