Surprise Patch for Dishonored 2 on Multiple Platforms
Dishonored 2, a critically acclaimed Bethesda title, has received an unexpected small update across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles. This minor patch appears focused on bug fixes and language file updates. The update's size is relatively small (230MB), although Xbox users report needing a full 40GB re-download.
Developed by Arkane Lyon, Dishonored 2, released in late 2016, introduced Emily Kaldwin as a playable protagonist, expanding on the original's acclaimed gameplay and level design. While Arkane Lyon is currently developing Marvel's Blade, the studio's sister studio, Arkane Austin (responsible for the original Dishonored and Prey), was unfortunately impacted by the 2024 Xbox studio closures.
The recent update for Dishonored 2 has sparked disappointment among fans hoping for a much-requested performance enhancement. Unlike other Arkane titles, Dishonored 2 remains locked at 30 FPS on current-gen consoles (Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5). Even the original Dishonored and its standalone spin-off, Death of the Outsider, now support 60 FPS. The possibility of a 60 FPS patch for Dishonored 2's tenth anniversary in 2026 remains speculative.
With Arkane Austin's closure and Arkane Lyon's focus on Marvel's Blade, the prospect of a third mainline Dishonored game remains uncertain and likely years away, if it ever materializes.
