Firaxis Games has announced that the debut in-game event for Civilization 7, originally scheduled for Update 1.1.0, will be postponed to allow more time for critical quality-of-life enhancements. In a development update posted on February 28, 2025, the team shared a detailed roadmap outlining their priorities for the next phase of updates.

Update 1.1.0 is set to launch on March 4, 2025, for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms, with a staggered release planned for Nintendo Switch. While the event—dubbed Natural Wonder Battle—was initially expected to debut in this update, Firaxis confirmed, "Events are now being postponed to a later update to allow us more time to prioritize quality-of-life improvements for players worldwide. We’ll share more details about the first in-game event once we’re ready."

Since the game’s early access release, community feedback has highlighted several areas needing refinement, particularly the user interface. Acknowledging this, Firaxis stated, "We are aware of and looking into feedback on the game's UI," and added, "We're continuing to make improvements to Civilization 7, and appreciate you taking the time to drop your feedback."

The upcoming Update 1.1.0 will center around addressing top community concerns and introducing meaningful gameplay adjustments. While the full patch notes will be released at launch, Firaxis has provided a preview of the most anticipated changes.

Players can look forward to the addition of a new natural wonder—the Bermuda Triangle—available to discover at no cost. The update will also introduce significant UI refinements, directly responding to widespread player feedback. Additionally, the Modern Age’s Cultural Legacy Path will receive major revisions, and AI leaders will show improved performance when pursuing a Cultural Victory.

Alongside these updates, the first half of the paid Crossroads of the World Collection will become available. Players who own the relevant editions or have purchased the collection separately will receive the content automatically upon the update’s release.

Major Update Planned for March 25, 2025

Firaxis plans to roll out another major update on March 25, 2025, though this date remains subject to change. This update will continue the focus on UI optimization, with the team emphasizing, "Ongoing improvements to the User Interface continues to be a top priority. The updates being introduced on March 25 are just one part of a much larger plan aimed at enhancing the UI over the coming months."

Looking beyond March, the development team is actively working on a series of long-term improvements, including the fan-favorite "one more turn" feature, allowing gameplay to continue past the Modern Age. Other planned additions include auto-explore functionality, new map sizes for PC and consoles (excluding Switch), and enhanced multiplayer support.

Firaxis shared, "We’re in the process of scoping the work necessary to bring these priorities to the game as soon as we can. Some of these will be delivered as early as April (subject to change), though many will take longer to develop, test, and deploy. As always in development, plans can change and we'll have more details to share here in the weeks and months ahead as plans solidify. We appreciate your continued patience in the meantime!"
