Avowed: All Playable Races Revealed

Avowed, the exciting new RPG from Obsidian Entertainment, expands upon the rich fantasy world of Eora, first introduced in the Pillars of Eternity series. While Eora boasts a diverse array of races, Avowed's character creator offers a more limited selection. Let's explore the playable races available at launch.

Humans (Folk)

Humans, or Folk as they're known in-game, are the most common race in Avowed and unsurprisingly, a prominent choice in character creation. They fall under the broader "Kith" classification, encompassing various sentient, civilized species. Avowed's human customization is surprisingly robust, offering a wide range of presets, detailed facial features, skin tones, and hairstyles to ensure players can create a truly personalized character.

Elves

Elves provide another compelling option for players. Visually similar to humans, they are distinguished by subtly different facial structures and, of course, those iconic pointed ears.

Godlikes

While all Envoys in the game's narrative are Godlikes, players can choose to incorporate or omit Godlike features in their character. These features offer unique hairstyles and facial structures, ranging from subtle enhancements to more striking, surreal options. At launch, 14 distinct Godlike facial features and four hairstyles are available, regardless of chosen race or body type.

Character Customization: Gender and Body Type

Avowed offers four body types: two masculine and two feminine, available for both Humans and Elves. Players can also select from two masculine and two feminine voice options, and choose between "he," "she," or "they" pronouns to further personalize their character's identity.

Unplayable Races

While Avowed showcases a diverse population of NPCs, including Dwarves, the semi-aquatic Aumaua, and the diminutive, hairy Orlans, these races are not currently playable. However, Obsidian Entertainment may introduce additional race options in future updates or DLC.
