Avowed: 60FPS on Xbox Series X Confirmed

Authore: SamuelUpdate:Mar 14,2025

Obsidian Entertainment's upcoming RPG, Avowed, will run at up to 60 frames per second on the Xbox Series X, according to game director Carrie Patel in a MinnMax interview. While she didn't elaborate on specific settings, the Xbox Series S version will remain capped at 30fps, as previously announced.

Whether Avowed will offer selectable performance and graphics modes—a common feature offering either 60fps with lower visuals or 30fps with enhanced visuals—remains unclear. It's possible the 60fps target is the default setting on Xbox Series X.

Avowed launches on February 13th for those purchasing the premium edition ($89.99). The standard edition ($69.99) will be available starting February 18th, reflecting a recent industry trend of staggered release dates that publishers like Ubisoft have already begun to move away from.

Set within the Pillars of Eternity universe, Avowed is a first-person fantasy RPG emphasizing player choice and agency. Players will unravel a story filled with war, mystery, and intrigue, forging alliances and rivalries as they explore the richly detailed world.

IGN's final preview lauded the game's nuanced dialogue, player freedom, and overall enjoyment, concluding that "Avowed is just a lot of fun."
