Paramount Pictures has reshuffled its film schedule, leading to significant delays for two major Nickelodeon movie titles: The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2. Both films have been pushed back by several months from their previously announced release windows.

As reported by Variety, the live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender, now officially titled The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender, will no longer debut on January 30, 2026. Instead, it is now set for a theatrical premiere on October 9, 2026—nearly nine months later than expected. This marks the film’s second delay following its original planned release date of October 10, 2025. While no official reason was given for the postponement, confirmed cast members such as Steven Yeun, Dave Bautista, and Eric Nam remain attached to the project.

The new timeline positions the film further down the road, but fans did receive a fresh visual treat in the form of a newly unveiled logo, offering at least some consolation amid the wait. The movie is described as centering on Aang years after the events of the original animated series and was officially named during last month’s CinemaCon. It also serves as the first installment in what is planned to be a three-film cinematic universe.

In related news, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2 has also been delayed. Originally scheduled for an October 9, 2026 release, the sequel is now set to arrive on September 17, 2027—pushing the anticipated follow-up nearly a full year further into the future. This means fans must wait even longer to see how the mid-credits scene from the first film pays off.

Details about the plot and returning cast remain scarce, though viewers can currently enjoy the Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series to help bridge the gap between films. The sequel was announced shortly before the debut of the first movie in 2023, generating early excitement that now faces an extended cooldown period.
