任天堂が6月5日に発売予定のNintendo Switch 2まであと数日となった中、同社は「Nintendo Switch Online」アプリを全面刷新し、名称を「Nintendo Switchアプリ」に改めました。

これは大きな転換点と言えます。特に「Nintendo Switch Online」とは長年、任天堂の有料オンラインゲームサービスを指す代名詞でした。このサービスではオンラインマルチプレイヤー機能に加え、NES（ファミコン）、SNES（スーパーファミコン）、ゲームボーイ、NINTENDO64までの40年に渡るクラシックタイトルが楽しめ（Nintendo Switch 2ではゲームキューブタイトルの追加も予定されています）。

バージョン3.0.1の更新では名称変更だけでなく、使いやすさを向上させた再設計インターフェースが導入されています。本アプリはNintendo Switch 2本体とGameChat招待機能に対応し、オンラインステータス通知など友人管理機能も強化されました。
