Ubisoft répond aux allégations d'abus au sein d'un studio externe

Ubisoft a publié une déclaration exprimant sa profonde préoccupation concernant les allégations de violences mentales et physiques au sein de Brandoville Studio, un partenaire d'externalisation indonésien qui a contribué à Assassin's Creed Shadows. La chaîne YouTube People Make Games a publié une vidéo détaillant ces affirmations inquiétantes, qui incluent des accusations de graves abus sur le lieu de travail perpétrés par Kwan Cherry Lai, la commissaire et épouse du PDG de Brandoville.

Le rapport fait état d'un type de comportement abusif, notamment de violences mentales et physiques, de pratiques religieuses forcées, de privation de sommeil et de coercition à l'automutilation contre l'employée Christa Sydney. D'autres allégations émanant d'autres employés de Brandoville corroborent ces affirmations, citant la manipulation des salaires, le surmenage d'une employée enceinte (entraînant une naissance prématurée et la mort ultérieure de l'enfant) et d'autres formes de mauvais traitements.

Brandoville Studio, fondé en 2018 et fermé en août 2024, aurait travaillé sur plusieurs titres de grande envergure, dont Age of Empires 4 et Assassin's Creed Shadows. Bien que les abus se soient produits entre 2019 et la fermeture du studio, les autorités indonésiennes enquêtent sur ces allégations et chercheraient à interroger Kwan Cherry Lai, qui se trouverait actuellement à Hong Kong.

Cet incident souligne un problème persistant au sein de l'industrie du jeu vidéo : la prévalence du harcèlement, des abus et de mauvaises conditions de travail. Cette affaire met en évidence le besoin urgent de mécanismes de protection et de responsabilisation plus forts pour les travailleurs, s'attaquant aux sources d'abus internes et externes, notamment le harcèlement en ligne et les menaces de mort. L’issue de l’enquête et la question de savoir si justice sera rendue aux personnes présumées maltraitées restent incertaines.

Skate Plaza: A custom-built skate bowl and street course with ledges, rails, and transitions, perfect for both beginners and pros.
Parkour Training Zone: An elevated obstacle course with walls, boxes, and rails that challenge agility, strength, and creativity—ideal for parkour athletes and urban movement practitioners.

The unveiling was celebrated with a live event featuring top athletes from each discipline, including world-class BMX riders, pro skaters, and parkour performers. Red Bull also announced a series of monthly competitions, youth clinics, and community workshops to encourage participation and skill development.

The BMX, skate, and parkour zone is open to the public and free to access, with free gear check-ins and safety zones provided. It’s a bold new chapter in Red Bull’s mission to inspire and empower urban athletes worldwide.
