Stephen King exhorte l'annulation des Oscars en raison des incendies de forêt de LA

L'auteur estimé Stephen King a exhorté l'Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences à annuler la 97e cérémonie annuelle du prix des Oscars en raison des incendies de forêt en cours ravageant Los Angeles.

Selon Deadline, King a déclaré qu'il ne voterait pas dans les prix de cette année et estime qu'ils devraient être annulés, citant le manque de "pull" à Los Angeles au milieu des incendies dévastateurs. Les incendies de forêt, qui ont commencé le 7 janvier, ont fait au moins 27 vies et continuent de brûler.

"Ne pas voter dans les Oscars cette année", a expliqué King sur Bluesky. "À mon avis honnête, ils devraient les annuler. Pas de paillettes avec Los Angeles en feu."

En réponse à la crise, l'Académie a annoncé le 13 janvier qu'elle ajuste son horaire de 2025, bien qu'aucune décision n'ait été prise d'annuler complètement l'événement. Le déjeuner nominé aux Oscars a cependant été annulé.

La période de vote a été prolongée jusqu'à aujourd'hui le 17 janvier, et l'annonce des nominations est désormais prévue pour le 23 janvier. La cérémonie des Oscars du 97e reste pour le 2 mars.

"Nous sommes tous dévastés par l'impact des incendies et les pertes profondes subies par tant de personnes dans notre communauté", a déclaré le PDG Bill Kramer et le président Janet Yang dans un communiqué accompagnant les changements du calendrier. "L'académie a toujours été une force unificatrice au sein de l'industrie cinématographique, et nous nous engageons à nous tenir ensemble face aux difficultés."
