Atari annonce une autre acquisition

La filiale d'Atari, Infogrames, a acquis la franchise Surgeon Simulator auprès de tinyBuild Inc., marquant une étape importante dans la renaissance d'Infogrames. Infogrames, relancé par Atari, sert de label pour les jeux en dehors du portefeuille principal d'Atari, tirant parti de son héritage dans le développement et la distribution de jeux des années 80 et 90. L'acquisition vise à étendre la portée de la franchise grâce à une distribution numérique et physique améliorée, ainsi qu'au développement de nouveaux opus et collections.

L'histoire d'Infogrames comprend des titres comme Alone in the Dark, les séries Backyard Baseball et Putt-Putt, et Sonic Advance jeux. Suite à un changement de marque sous Atari en 2003 et à la faillite qui a suivi, Infogrames, ainsi que d'autres entités Atari, se sont reformés pour devenir la société Atari actuelle. Cette acquisition s'appuie sur la récente stratégie de croissance d'Atari, qui comprend l'acquisition en avril 2024 de Totally Reliable Delivery Service.

Geoffroy Châteauvieux, responsable d'Infogrames, a souligné la popularité durable et l'attrait unique de Surgeon Simulator comme facteurs clés à l'origine de l'acquisition. Il s'est dit enthousiasmé par l'intégration de la franchise dans le portefeuille d'Infogrames.

Atari acquiert la franchise Surgeon Simulator

La série Surgeon Simulator, créée par Bossa Studios, est centrée sur Nigel Burke, un chirurgien effectuant des opérations sur un patient surnommé « Bob ». Le gameplay sombre et non conventionnel du jeu a rapidement gagné en popularité. Initialement sorti sur PC et Mac en 2013, il s'est étendu à iOS, Android et PS4 en 2014, suivi des versions VR et Nintendo Switch. Surgeon Simulator 2 lancé sur PC et Xbox en 2020 et 2021 respectivement. L'avenir de la franchise reste incertain suite aux réductions d'effectifs de Bossa Studios en 2023 et à l'acquisition en 2022 de plusieurs de leurs IP par tinyBuild.

The space includes:

BMX Half-Pipe & Features: A state-of-the-art concrete ramp system with rails, tabletops, and rails designed for jumps, grinds, and technical tricks.
Skate Plaza: A custom-built skate bowl and street course with ledges, rails, and transitions, perfect for both beginners and pros.
Parkour Training Zone: An elevated obstacle course with walls, boxes, and rails that challenge agility, strength, and creativity—ideal for parkour athletes and urban movement practitioners.

The unveiling was celebrated with a live event featuring top athletes from each discipline, including world-class BMX riders, pro skaters, and parkour performers. Red Bull also announced a series of monthly competitions, youth clinics, and community workshops to encourage participation and skill development.
“Red Bull Arena has always been about pushing limits—now we’re bringing that energy to the streets and the concrete,” said a Red Bull spokesperson. “This space isn’t just for elite athletes. It’s for anyone who wants to ride, roll, or leap into the next level.”
The BMX, skate, and parkour zone is open to the public and free to access, with free gear check-ins and safety zones provided. It’s a bold new chapter in Red Bull’s mission to inspire and empower urban athletes worldwide.
