Creadores de Roblox obtienen licencia de Like a Dragon de Sega

Roblox ha lanzado una nueva plataforma de licencias para agilizar las colaboraciones entre creadores y titulares de grandes propiedades intelectuales como Netflix, Lionsgate y Sega.

El Administrador de Licencias permite a "creadores aprobados" incorporar legalmente elementos de franquicias importantes como Squid Game, Stranger Things, Twilight y Saw, así como sagas de videojuegos como Yakuza (Like a Dragon).

"Históricamente, obtener licencias de propiedad intelectual para desarrollo de juegos ha sido engorroso y restrictivo, favoreciendo a los estudios más grandes", declaró Roblox.

"Los dueños de IP ahora tienen opciones flexibles: ya sea mediante acuerdos personalizados de reparto de ingresos, participación de fans al estilo código abierto o escaneo automatizado de IP en experiencias. Las ofertas de licencias pueden dirigirse a contenido generado por usuarios existente o debutar en el nuevo catálogo de Licencias para su visualización y solicitud."

Más allá de negociaciones directas con creadores, los titulares de derechos pueden "monitorear activamente experiencias por uso no autorizado de IP"—insinuando posibles acciones contra juegos creados por fans sin aprobación.

Roblox confirma que esta iniciativa está en sus primeras etapas, con asociaciones adicionales implementándose "a lo largo del año".
