Learning to read effectively involves focusing on the sounds each letter makes, rather than simply reciting their names. This approach is crucial for developing phonetic awareness.

A key element in a child's reading journey is the active participation of a supportive adult. Guided exercises, demonstrating the correct lip and mouth positions for each sound, significantly aid the learning process.

To achieve this, begin with simpler letters and common words, such as animal names. The emphasis should always be on the sound of the letter, not its name.

Initially, adults should engage in interactive practice with the child, remembering that reading acquisition is a gradual process. The app can then be used independently, with periodic joint practice sessions. Later, adults can use the "Discover the Word" section for further exercises:

Ask the child to pronounce the sounds of the letters in the word "TREE."
After a period of practice, ask "What did you say?"
Avoid explicitly telling the child the word they've pronounced.

Repeat this exercise, encouraging faster pronunciation of the letter sounds to reduce pauses between them. Resist the urge to correct them. Eventually, when asked "What did you say?", the child will spontaneously say "TREE!" This marks a significant milestone in their reading development.
