Tarneeb is an engaging card game designed for two teams, with each team comprising two players seated opposite each other at the playing table. The game utilizes a standard set of 52 playing cards, and the direction of play is counter-clockwise. Each player's primary goal is to estimate the number of Allmat (dishes) that their team can secure during each round.

How to Play

The player who wins the bid to declare Tarneeb starts the round by playing any card. The other players must then follow suit if possible. The highest card of the led suit wins the trick, unless a Tarneeb card is played, which trumps all other cards. If a player cannot follow suit, they may play a Tarneeb card to win the trick. The round continues with the winner of each trick leading the next one until all cards are played.

Scoring

To score points, a team must meet or exceed the number of Allmat they bid. If the team achieves this number, the Allmat they won are added to their total points, while the opposing team scores nothing. However, if the team fails to reach their bid, the points they bid are subtracted from their total, and the Allmat won by the other team are added to their score. Special rules apply for bidding 13 Allmat: if a team bids and wins 13, they earn 26 points; if they bid 13 but fail, 16 points are deducted. If both teams reach 13 Allmat without bidding for it, 16 points are added to their total. The game concludes when one team reaches a total score of 41 or more, declaring them the winner.
