Exciting news for Pokemon GO enthusiasts! Niantic has announced a thrilling update for the upcoming Fashion Week: Taken Over event, running from Wednesday, January 15, at 12:00 a.m. to Sunday, January 19, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. local time. For the first time ever, players will be able to use remote raid passes in Shadow Raids. This long-awaited feature is set to enhance the gameplay experience during the event, allowing trainers to participate in one-star, three-star, and five-star Shadow Raids either in person or remotely.
Shadow Raids, which were introduced to Pokemon GO in 2023, have quickly become a favorite among players for their chance to capture powerful Pokemon. The Fashion Week: Taken Over event offers an exclusive opportunity to catch Pokemon with higher IV stats, making it a must-attend for dedicated trainers. On January 19, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time, players can also join the Shadow Ho-Oh Raid day remotely, increasing their chances of catching a shiny shadow Ho-Oh and teaching it the charged attack Sacred Fire. Additionally, trainers can use a Charged TM on Shadow Pokemon to forget the move Frustration, adding another layer of strategy to the gameplay.
Pokemon GO Temporarily Introducing Remote Raid Passes for Shadow Raids
The ability to use remote raid passes for Shadow Raids is a temporary feature, limited to the duration of the Fashion Week: Taken Over event. This has been one of the most requested features since Shadow Raids were added to the game, and players are eagerly anticipating the chance to utilize it. However, once the event concludes, remote raid passes will no longer be available for Shadow Raids.
As 2025 kicks off, Niantic is rolling out several updates for Pokemon GO, including the return of Ralts for the second Community Day of January. With these continuous enhancements, the developers are keeping the game fresh and engaging for its community. Whether this new feature of remote raid passes in Shadow Raids will become a permanent part of the game remains to be seen. Given the community's feedback on the challenges of gathering for Dynamax and Gigantamax battles, many fans hope that Niantic will consider making this feature a staple in future updates.
