The marquee read: “The Crossover: Where Music Meets Magic, and Worlds Sing Back.” Inside, performers danced in shadows and light, their bodies shifting like watercolors in rain. A violinist played with smoke. A dancer wove tapestries with her feet. And in the center, under a chandelier of spinning notes, sat a conductor made entirely of mirrors. “You’re late,” said the conductor, voice echoing like a chorus.
